On-line Services

The most advanced technology implemented in the application makes EuroPlus+ truly different from other language learning packages. The application makes use of all new possibilities that appeared with the popularisation of the Internet. Four Internet-based services designed exclusively for the program have been implemented into the EuroPlus+ environment to supplement the off-line part of the course:

• News - contains links to the most interesting business related sites from all over the world, constantly updated to keep the learner with the hottest business news.
• Forum - a virtual classroom in which students communicate with one another in real time, either by typing or by speaking. Topics for discussion are suggested in the course and closely related to the discussion-oriented activities in the off-line part of the course.
• Teacher Service - it offers feedback from real English teachers and enables students to benefit from the sort of assistance and advice impossible through software alone. Since the EuroPlus+ program does not check writing and other non-objective activities, students can send them, via the Internet, to the selected English teachers for revision. Examples of the most common errors of all non-objective activities are published on the Net with the teacher's comment.
• Games - students from all over the world meet on the Net to compete in friendly language-oriented computer games and improve their language skills.

Speech Recognition

An advanced speech recognition module makes it possible for students to practice their pronunciation skills by speaking directly to the program. They can solve the majority of activities using their own voices. The program uses ViaVoice, the advanced IBM technology.

Tools

Three additional tool programs support the main application of the EuroPlus+ Business English and enrich the learning process:

• Vocabulary Tool - gathers the entire vocabulary introduced in the course. Words can be organised alphabetically or in the order they are introduced in the course. Thanks to the Word Bank option students can also group words thematically, which makes it easier to memorise new vocabulary. All the words are recorded.
• Grammar Review - summarises all grammar rules introduced in the course. Short extracts with audio examples create an extensive guide to English grammar.
• Voice Print - the quickest way to learn pronunciation. Speech signal visual analysis allows students to compare their pronunciation to recordings of native speakers and adjust their pronunciation accordingly.
